Obituary: Services for Donald P. Amsberry, 79, of Carthage, who died Thursday in a De Smet hospital will be in the Carthage Auditorium at 11pm Tuesday. Mr. Amsberry was born November 18, 1896 in Lester, Iowa, and as a child moved to Harwood in 1902 and then to Sioux Falls in 1908. After graduation from high school, he moved to Badger where he worked in the Badger State Bank until 1918 when he moved to Carthage to work in the Farmers State Bank. On August 6, 1928, he married Doris Paulson at Carthage. In 1959, he became president of the bank and was president at the time of his death. Mr. Amsberry was worshipful master of the Redstone Masonic Lodge, secretary and treasurer of the Carthage Fire Department for 20 years, and treasurer of the Carthage school district for more than 25 years. From 1946 to 1950, he was mayor of Carthage. Mr. Amsberry is survived by his widow. A prayer service will be at 730pm Monday at the Willoughby Funeral Home.
