John P. Klapperich, 80, of 48 E Brooklyn St., Chilton, died at 7:50 p.m. Friday at the Alexian Brothers Hospital, Oshkosh, where he had been a patient for the last four months.
He was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin March 25, 1881, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Klapperich. He attended school at Kloten and has lived in the Chilton community 72 years. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Chilton, and the Holy Name Society of the parish.
On March 10, 1912, he married the former Magdalene Portmann at Whapeton, N. D. She died June 4, 1923. He then married Margaret Wettstein on November 10. 1942.
Mr. Klappeich farmed in the Towns of Stockbridge and Brothertown until 1942 when he moved to Chilton.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Norbert of rural Chilton; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Halbach of rural Kiel, and Mrs. Sylester (Delphine) Schmitz of rural Kiel; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Mrs. John Steffen Stanley, Wisc. and Mrs. Simon Wettstein, Calumt Homestead, New Holstein.
He was preceded in death by one son and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Lrbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home, Chilton and at St. Marys Catholic Church. The Rev. Raymond Onard will be celebrant of the requiem Mass.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery at Kloten.
