Samuel was the youngest son of John Ikenberry, Sr., (1761-1856) and Elizabeth Rusch (1766-1850) and according to custom, continued to live on his father's farm. Samuel never moved from his birthplace. On 22 February 1833, he was married to Lydia Flora (15 Dec 1813-27 Jun 1903), daughter of Jacob Flora. They were charter members of the Germantown (Brick Church) Congregation. Samuel died on 4 April 1889, and Lydia died on 27 June 1903. They were both buried in a small family plot on the farm, but in 1947 were moved ot Mountain View Cemetery, located on a part of the Peter Ikenberry farm. The remains of his father and mother were also moved to the same lot and a suitable memorial stone erected.
