Mrs. Eliza Ann Birkes Dies Monday Night
Mrs. Eliza Ann Birkes, mother of Mrs. John Hobbs and Walter Birkes of this city died at 10:30 pm Monday at the J.B.U. hospital where she had been a patient for the past week. Mrs. Birkes had been ill for several weeks.
Mrs. Birkes, a native of Arkansas, and a resident of this city for many years, was born near Rogers on September 13, 1867. At the time of her death, she was aged 75 years.
Besides her son and daughter, Mrs. Birkes is survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and one brother now living in Manilla.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the Pyeatte funeral home, with Rev. J. F. Bow, pastor of the Baptist church officiating.
Pallbearers will be: J.D. Taylor, W.J. Jarrell, J.W. Hogg, H.C. Gorton, Jack Richards, and Elza Cain.
Interment will be made in the Oak Hill cemetery under the direction of Pyeatte's.
