Keele died on Sunday, January 11, at Doctors Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem. He was born in Salem on August 27, 1930, the son of Harry E. and Ina (Kell) Keele and they preceded him in death. On August 29, 1948, he married Donna Elwell in Salem.
He retired from the United States Air Force with 22 1/2 years of service and retired with 18 years as a U.S. Rural Postal Carrier. Along with his wife, he owned the Keele Roller Rink. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Salem and was a 50 year member of the Marion Masonic Lodge 150 A.F. & A. M.
Survivors include: his wife, Donna Keele of Salem, a son, James H. Keele, Jr. and wife, Melonie of Springfield; a daugher, Mary Ray and husband, Bill of Cape Coral, Florida; and seven grandchildren including Dustin, Dannielle, Brandon, Amanda, Annalese, Daniel and Alexander.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth L. Keele.
Memorials may be made to the Salem First Baptist Church "Dare to Dream" or to the donor's choice, and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem,which was in charge of arrangements.
