I reside in Winter Park, Florida When the man died Bertie inherited some money and put it into savings for college for the two sons and Hugh Thurston found out about it and came back to Wisconsin and cleaned her out of her money for the boys college fund and then returned to Florida. My grandfather would get an occasional box of oranges at Christmas from time to time and that was all the coorespondance the man had with his sons.
He got married again at the ripe old age of 81 and then died when he was around 91. Evidently the widow snagged any money he had and buried him in a paupers grave with only a marker which was still there 20 years ago when I took Bryon with my Dad ( Robert Lamont ) to see it.
