Burkburnett Resident Dies
BURKBURNETT, Aug 25 (Special) - John William Allen, 64, a member of one of the pioneer families Wichita County, died at his home in Burkburnett early Friday morning of a heart ailment.
He worked a the LaSalle Refinery until his retirement 13 years ago.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of American Legion Frye-Vaughn Post No. 264, Masonic Lodge AM&FM, No. 127, 100F No 747 and the First Baptist Church.
Services are tentatively set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Burkburnett Cemetery under the direction of Owen & Brumley Funeral Home.
He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. P.A. Carpenter of Burkburnett: a son, Tex W. Allen of Oklahoma City and three grandchildren also of Oklahoma City.
Also by six sisters: Mrs. Ella Martin, Mrs. Ruth Messamore, Mrs. Bettie Chapman, Mrs. Jessie Riggs and Mrs. Vera Taylor all of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Lula Bradford of Margaret, Tex., and by three brothers: Ed Allen of Stratford, Okla., H.W. Allen of Tulsa and O.C. Allen of Crowell, Tex.
