A private family memorial will be at a later date. A public visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. He was cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alexander & Mickael Ashworth Memorial Fund, in care of the Farmer City State Bank, P.O. Box 200, Farmer City, IL 61842.
John was born Feb. 7, 1964, at Champaign, a son of Robert A. and Linda L. Gibbs Ashworth. He married Renee K. Fehr on Dec. 30, 1988.
He is survived by parents, Robert A. and Linda L. Ashworth, Farmer City; son, Alexander Fehr Ashworth, Bloomington; daughter, Mikael Fehr Ashworth, Bloomington; sister, Sabrina (Tim) Walsh, Farmer City; and brother, Vince (Kay) Ashworth, Farmer City.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents Archie A. Ashworth (1914-1983) and Maxine (Mathena) Ashworth (1915-2001) and nephew, Wesley R. Weedman.
John was a corporate pilot for State Farm Insurance, Bloomington. He was a 1982 graduate of Farmer City-Mansfield High School. John attended Parks College in Cahokia and graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., in 1987.
John's love was motocross, flying, the outdoors and hunting but his greatest love was his family.
John won the race to heaven but lost his battle with cancer.
