Born July 22, 1854 in Tredegar, Wales, the daughter of William Jones, a coal miner, and Mary Mathews Jones. Married William (Bill) Dix 17 Oct. 1874 in Glamorgan, Wales. The family emigrated to America in 1881. Children: Dave, Tom, Will, Elizabeth, Dan, Mary, and Martha. (All 3 of the daughters died in early childhood.) Elvira died Nov. 13, 1887 in Cedar City, Utah.
