she was born Sept. 6, 1921, at Matthews, daughter of William Marshall and Eathel Williams Hendershott. She and Kermit D. Bird were married Nov. 18, 1941. He died May 30, 1978.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, Meadow Lane Garden Club and a past worthy matron of Eastern Star in New Madrid. She had been active in Girl Scouts and was a volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Mattews; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
