MAE ROSA BERG

Mae Rosa Berg, daughter of William P. and Anna Schreck, was born June 15, 1888, in Benton township, Lucas county, Iowa, and departed this life at her home in Altoona, Iowa, at the age of 61 years, five months and 15 days after an illness of only a few hours.

She was married to U. G. Berg on October 5, 1905, and to this union seven children were born, Alton, Iva, John, Laura, Albert, Anna and Oscar.

She was a member of the Otterbein U. B. church most of her life, but of late years her membership was with the Methodist church at Ankeny, Iowa, which she attended faithfully.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, an infant son and one daughter, Mrs. Laura Exley.

She is survived by three sons, John Berg, of Kansas City, Mo.; Albert Berg, of Emporia, Kan.; Oscar Berg, of Altoona; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Foster, of Chariton; and Mrs. Max Oswalt, of Ankeny; nine grandchildren, Bonnie, Annabelle and Ray Exley, of Derby; Bill, Betty Ann Warren and Walter Oswalt, of Ankeny; Roger Dean Foster, of Chariton; and Mrs. John Bennett, of Dearborn, Mich.

Four sisters, Mrs. Worth Mitchell, Mrs. Guilford Tuttle, Mrs. Fred Roberts, Mrs. Otis Burnett, one brother, John Schreck, all of Chariton, also survive her.

The main interest in her life was for the welfare of her children and it was always a joy to be near her grandchildren. Her death came as a shock to her family, many relatives and friends.

Services were held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Beardsley Funeral Home, the Rev. Godfrey Bruland officiating. Burial was made at the Chariton cemetery.
