Charles E. Warren, 88, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Walter, Ky.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita C. (Shoultz) War­ren; and four children; Shirley Charlene Rosselot (Larry) of Beech Grove, Edward Lewis Warren (Betty) of Greenwood and Johnie Aline Keown (Darrell) and Susanna Marie McAndrews (Michael), both of Indianapolis.

Also surviving are five siblings, Lois B. Mills of Newport, Tenn., and K.S. Warren, John A. Warren, Bige B. Warren and Sallie Cox, all of Knox County, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Bertha Bingham Warren; and seven siblings, Alpha Warren, M.G. Warren, Martha Riddle, Dorothy Hopkins, Mary Shoemaker, Curt Warren and L.B. Warren.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 106th Infantry Division and participated in four major campaigns in central and northern Europe during World War II. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve guard until June 1952.

Charles lived and worked as an auto mechanic for more than 60 years in Johnson County.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
