Dixon L. "Dick" Thompson, 69, of County Road 525 South, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Dick worked at Cummins Engine Company as a Draftsman for 24 years and was formerly employed at Productive Resources in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge and he enjoyed fishing.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. to time of service Monday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dick was born in Columbus, August 15, 1940, the son of Joseph W. and Elizabeth A. Clevenger Thompson.
Survivors include his sisters Lucinda Downs and Sandra (Tim) Brandt and a brother Jerry B. Thompson, all of Columbus; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and Kara Keillor whom he considered to be his granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James, Larry and Joe Thompson; and his long-time companion, Kay Laudick.

Burial was at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ron Poe, Larry Scott, Gary Woods, Aaron Thompson, Rick Cooper and John Littlejohn.

Mr. Thompson died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
