ISAAC BISBEE was born in Springfield Township, Windsor County, Vt., Jan 1 1813, his parents being Elisha Bisbee and Mary (Grout) Bisbee. In the early settlement of the Northwestern Territory, his maternal grandfather, Asa Grout, when a child was captured by the Indians, and with a brother and their mother was carried into canada, where he was held three or four years as a prisoner. The original ancestor of the family in America was Thomas Bisbee, who came to Plymouth Rock a few years after the landing of the Mayflower. Elisha Bisbee served through the war of 1812 and was given a Captains's commission.

Isaac Bisbee was the seventh among thirteen children who grew to maturity. His father died on the old homestead about 1841, his mother survived to see all her children married and settled in homes of their own, and died about 1872. Of the family, six are now living. Our subject remained at home until he was twenty years old, and in his youth learned the trades of a carpenter and millwright. In 1834, with his brother Aaron, he came to Michigan, settling in Ann Arbor and following his trade there intil 1843. At times he found employment in a machine shop. In 1843 he secured some land which he at once comenced to improve. He now owns one hundred and twenty acres of good land and devotes his attention closely to general farming. He has served the people in varous public capacities, filling the office of Justice of the Peace for eighteen years, and holding other local positions.

On October 29, 1835, Mr. Bisbee was married to Miss Amanda Fox, the daughter of Phineas Fox who came from New York in 1831, and settled on land adjoining the Bisbee Farm. He resided in this country until 1840, removing then to Ingham County, where he died. Mrs. Bisbee was born in Penn Yan N.Y., on the 13th of November, 1815, and died February 25, 1891, in her seventy-sixth year. She was a woman of energy and strong constitution and her death was sudden, occuring at night after she had retired in her ususal health. Mr. and Mrs. Bisbee had a family of six children, Viz: Isadore, now Mrs. H.N. Doty, Adeline, wife of Orlando Lathrop, of Ann Arbor, Benjamin of Seward County, Kansas: Albert, who resides in Tuscola County: Orson, who makes his home in Antrim County: and Edwin, who is engaged in farming. Politically, Mr. Bisbee is a Republican, and has served as a delegate to county and local conventions.

The funeral services of Isaac Bisbee were held this afternoon. Rev J. Sunderland officiating. His remains were interred in Forest Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bisbee was the son of Elisha and Mary Grout Bisbee and was born in Vermont, Jan 1, 1813. He was a millwright by trade. He was married to Miss Amanda Fox and in the 1834, they moved to Washtenaw County where for a number of years he worked his trade. His devoted wife died some years ago. Six children, Isadore, wife of O. Doty of Saginaw, Adeline L., Benjamin, Orsen, and Edwin survive him.

Mr. Bisbee was much respected by his friends and neighbors. For 12 years he filled the office of justice of the peace in Ann Arbor town.
