Fred G. Wilkinson, 75, passed away Wednesday April 6, 2005 from injuries sustained in an automobile, pedestrian accident. He was born July 18, 1929 in Logan, Utah to Oliver Wilkinson and Cleone Izatt Wilkinson.

He attended Logan City. schools and was a graduate of Logan High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1950 and was honorably discharged. He returned home and was working for Morrison-Knudsen Construction when he met his wife, Betty Sorenson from Preston, Idaho at a dance in Hyrum at the Elite Hall. They were married September 17, 1951 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 17, 1962.

After working for Morrison-Knudsen Construction he became a Cattle buyer for feed lots in California for a number of years. He began working for USU facilities in 1984 and retired from there in 2002. After retirement he became a volunteer for the Senior Citizens Center by delivering meals to the elderly who were his age.

He spent several summers racing thoroughbred horses at various race tracks in the western states. He was the proud owner of Last Wink. He enjoyed puttering at the barn, feeding his animals, and watching the cows in the field. He was a generous man who did several things for others selflessly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and 2 granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty. His children Scott and his wife Beverly Wilkinson, Nancy and her husband John Duncan, Jan Clements who are all of Smithfield. Matt Wilkinson from North Logan; Grandchildren Amanda and James Spendlove, Shaun and Laura Wilkinson, Luke Wilkinson, Jake and Misty Duncan, Angie and Jeremyah Porter, Lance Wilkinson, Heidi Wilkinson, Ashley Duncan, Cassie Wilkinson , Jessica Clements, Alex Clements, Abby Clements; 3 Great granddaughters Ainsley, Sydney, Hana.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, April 11, at the North Logan Ninth Ward Chapel, 1105 East 2100 North, North Logan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at the Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 North, North Logan, and an additional viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 on Monday at the North Logan Ninth Ward church. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery.

The Family wishes to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at McKay-Dee Hospital Intensive Care Unit, North Logan Fire & Rescue, Logan Paramedics and North Park Police.
