James drowned near his home the morning of Friday, June 11th, in a small triangular lake in which another child was injured.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Hooper; three brothers, Ernest and Thomas, both of Borger, and Bervin who is stationed with the Navy in the South Pacific; one sister, Doris Mae Hooper of Borger; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Grace Hooper, Amarillo; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mannie Turner of Itasca, Texas.
James Ross was a member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Cub Scouts, belonging to Pack No. 6, Den 2.
Interment was in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of the Blackburn-Shaw-Brown Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were W.H. Scoggins, Howard Kiekbusch, Jim Weddle, G.W. Dickey, P.T. McGuyer, and U.B. Followell.
