Funeral services were held Sunday, June 12th, at 3 p.m. in the First Methodist Church of Borger for James Ross Hooper, 9, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Hooper of 1409 Herbst St., Borger, with the Rev. Noel Bryant officiating.

James drowned near his home the morning of Friday, June 11th, in a small triangular lake in which another child was injured.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Hooper; three brothers, Ernest and Thomas, both of Borger, and Bervin who is stationed with the Navy in the South Pacific; one sister, Doris Mae Hooper of Borger; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Grace Hooper, Amarillo; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mannie Turner of Itasca, Texas.

James Ross was a member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Cub Scouts, belonging to Pack No. 6, Den 2.

Interment was in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of the Blackburn-Shaw-Brown Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were W.H. Scoggins, Howard Kiekbusch, Jim Weddle, G.W. Dickey, P.T. McGuyer, and U.B. Followell.
