GREAT VALLEY --- Richard J Curtis, 65, of Humphrey Road died Wednesday(Aug. 30, 1995) in St. Joseph's Manor, Olean.
Born Aug. 23, 1930, in Bradford, Pa., he was the son of Glenn Raymond and Alice Marie Vierick Curtis. On April 11, 1953, he married Monica J "Mickie" Curtis, who predeceased him January 30, 1975.

A lifelong resident of Great Valley, Mr. Curtis drove a school bus for many years for Ellicottville Central School. He built his own Garage and ran a mechanic business beside his home on Route 219, Great Valley until the late 1970s At which time, he went to work in the machine shop at Holiday Valley Ski Resort until his retirement in 1992.

His free time and vacations were spent traveling with his metal detector pursuing his avid passion for treasure hunting. In Summer, he loved to pick blackberries(buckets and dishpans galore) on the State land near his home for his friends and neighbors to enjoy.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, a brother, and a sister, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Francis "Roy" Curtis, of whom he was very close.

Burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery, Great Valley.
