Delton Lavohn "D.L." Hathorn, 63, of Laurel, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Union Line Cemetery in Jones County. The Revs. Harold Floyd and Aaron Maxwell will officiate.
He was born April 8, 1943, and for 43 years was a brick mason who took great pride in his work. A member of Lebanon Baptist Church, he loved the Lord and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who always wanted to help others. He enjoyed life, loved to laugh and loved people. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time with his coffee shop friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Arcola Hathorn and George and Myrtle Moss; parents, Webber Delton "Cuckleburr" Hathorn and Bonnie Lou Hathorn; stepfather, J.C. Doggett; parents-in-law, George and Dovie Green; and a brother-in-law, George W. "Babe" Green Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Latrice Hathorn of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Jan Graham of Stringer; a granddaughter, Jana Carol Graham of Stringer; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Linda Hathorn of Laurel; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Milton Johnson, Louise Lee and special friend Dan Landrum, all of Laurel, and Betty and Clay Butler of Ellisville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dale and Jeanette Green of Saucier and Dwight Green of Laurel; a sister-in-law, Edith Green Williams of Soso; a best friend, James Laird of Laurel; several special cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and special friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Green, Kevin Laird, Terry Sims, James Earl Hunnell, J.L. Smith, Chris Cranford, Joe Pruitt and Kevin Hunnell.
Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
