W.C. was born in Haskell Co. 10/19/1915 to Okla Homer and Dora Bell Preston. He graduated from the Avoca High School. After graduation W.C. started working in the oil field and began building rigs.
W.C. married Billie Jean Dillard in 1941. She passed away in 1984. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army and served until 1945. After his army career, he returned to the oil field where he worked for many years as a driller and tool pusher. In 1964 he moved to San Angelo and went to work for the Railroad Commission as a field agent, retiring in 1984.
After his retirement he returned to Stamford and in 1985 married Rudene Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife, Rudene Preston of Stamford; 1 son, William Randall Preston of San Angelo; 1 daughter, Gloria Earles of Stamford; 2 grand children; 3 great grand children; 1 great great granddaughter; and 1 brother, Wayne Preston of Anson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Billie Jean Dillard Preston; 1 sister, Inez Martin; & 3 brothers, Wilburn, Gilbert, & Billy Preston
