According to James Pigg the author of many South Carolina books, Richard Knight was the son of Rev. Aaron Knight the founder of Fork Creek Methodist Church in Chesterfield County South Carolina, said to be the first Methodist church in South Carolina. Richard and wife Cynthia Knight are most likely buried in the Fork Creek Church cemetery, but not proven.
