Mac was born April 3, 1922 in Nortonville, KS to the late William and Hazel (McCoy) Hoffman. He graduated from Nortonville High School, made his home in Effingham, and married Thelma Christie, on June 1, 1946. Mac worked 27 years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a soil technician. He also farmed and was a dairyman until 1986, when he retired.
He was a member of the Effingham Union Church and is survived by his wife, Thelma, of Effingham, one daughter; Ann (Darrell) Christesen, Topeka, KS, three sons; John (Laurie) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jim (Sandi) and Jeff (Tana) both of Effingham, KS, fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Jo Hagen, of Dallas, TX and Rosemary Cummings, West Des Moines, IA. Two brothers, Bill and Jack, preceded him death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Becker Chapel, 402 3rd, Effingham, KS. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
