Born Oct. 24, 1865 at Quincy, Ill, Melinda Carmeny came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Carmeny, to Apponouse county, Iowa in 1870. There she grew to womanhood.
She was married in 1883 to Joseph Steel. Two children, Lucy and Robert, were born to this union.
From 1890 until 1894, she made her home with her uncle, L.C. Ulry. On March 4, 1894 she was married to David M. Davis. To this union were born four children, Frank, David, Johnnie and Lula.
They made their home near Tilden until 1901. They, then, moved to Newboro, Neb., where they resided until 1916, when they moved to their farm northeast of Page.
Here they lived until Mr. Davis' death June 1933. Since that time, she had lived with her children, Mrs. Eickhoff and Frank of Brunswick.
She is survived by five children, Lucy Eickhoff and Lula Armstrong of Page, Frank of Brunswick, David of Lincoln and Johnnie of Portland, Ore.; three sisters and two brothers; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was a member of the Methodist church.--Norfolk News
