Eloise Floriene Coon Spencer, age 74, died December 9, 1997 at the Red Cliffs Regional Rehabilitation Center in St. George.

She was born on March 29, 1923 in Safford, Arizona, to William Alvin and Bernice Spilsbury Coon. She married Hector Josiah Spencer in 1951 in Mesa, Arizona. They later divorced.Eloise was born in Safford, Arizona and raised in Colonia Juarez and Colonia Dublan Chih, Mexico. She graduated from the Juares Stake Academy and attended two and one-half years at BYU in Provo. She served an LDS mission in Southern Mexico. In 1951 she was married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple and lived in Colonia Dublan, where she taught school. In 1966 she moved to Nephi, UT, and with the assistance of her father, she raised her family. She was the city librarian for five years.

In 1988 she moved to St. George, UT. Eloise was an active member of the LDS Church. During her lifetime she served in the auxiliaries of the church in many different positions. Her family was the joy of her life. She enjoyed crocheting, talking on the phone and visiting friends. She loved making family albums and enjoyed the Kodak Moments. She was loving, positive, spiritual and had a happy spirit. She was humble and had strong faith and trust in the Lord to help her through her physical trials. She was a confidant to many friends and family.

Survivors include her six children: Linda (Santana) Zambrano, of St. George; David Hector Spencer, of Salt Lake City; Emma Jean (Jeff) Bown, of Centerville, UT; Debra Anne (Scott) Mortensen, of St. George; Daniel Martin (Megan) Spencer, of Washington, UT; and Sandra Marlene Curcio, of St. George; 17 grandchildren; a brother, William Alvin Coon, Jr., of El Paso, TX; a sister, Alma Maurine Vickers, of Nephi, UT.

Funeral services Friday, December 12, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the St. George East Stake Center (across from the Temple). Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, 110 So. Bluff in St. George and Friday one hour prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, St. George-673-2454.
