CLEVELAND, TN — Danny Mack O'Neal, 64, passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, in a Chattanooga, TN hospital.
He was a man whose faith was firmly placed in the Lord Jesus Christ. He served his Lord, his church and his country. He was compassionate and caring. He was a machinist by profession and a servant of the Lord by choice. He was involved in service at the Caring Place. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he was actively involved in Sunday School and the men's ministry. He was involved with the Cleveland Classic Singles and had served as a devotional leader. He enjoyed working on cars and going to car shows and auto races. He marveled at God's natural creations such as rain, the changing of the leaves and birds in flight. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Grady and Minnie Elizabeth Anderson O'Neal; and brother, Lawrence Reed O'Neal.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Brock O'Neal, of Cleveland, TN; sisters, Julia Nelson, of Lebanon, TN, Grace Rogers, of Atlanta, GA, and Susan Hentz and husband, Paul, of Chickamauga, GA; brothers, Robert O'Neal and wife, Jo of Flintstone, GA, Rev. R. David O'Neal and wife, Brenda, of Cleveland, TN and James O'Neal and wife, Jeannette, of Rossville, GA; and grandchildren, Dustin and Nicole Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood and the Rev. R. David O'Neal officiating.
Interment will follow in Cookson Creek Cemetery with military honors.
Andy Hentz, Sam Hentz, Greg O'Neal, Shane O'Neal, John Anderson and Dustin Brown will serve as pallbearers.
The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today and also an hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
