Henry Heitshusen

Monday afternoon, June 5, funeral services were held for Henry Heitshusen of Fremont, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fremont with Rev. Victor W. Hoffman officiating. Mr. Heitshusen succumbed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, early Thursday morning, June 1, where he had been hospitalized for eight weeks following a major operation.

Memorial wreaths in honor of the departed were given for: Lutheran Children's Home, Lutheran Home, Lutheran Hour, the "Daily Chapel", Trinity Educational Building, Memorial Tabitha Home and Oakland Memorial Hospital.

Henry William Heitshusen was born May 28, 1881 on a farm near Uehling, Nebraska. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and in 1894 was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Hooper.

He was married to Emma Hoegemeyer of Hooper, September 27, 1906. In 1912, they moved to a farm near Lyons, where they lived until 1943, when he retired and they moved into Fremont.

Mr. Heitshusen was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fremont, where he had served a term as trustee. While at Lyons, he held several church offices, also being active in farm community work.

Mr Heitshusen had been in poor health for some time. He spent the last eight weeks in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Elmer of Craig, Lloyd and Norman of Lyons, three daughters, Mrs. Harold Nelson of Oakland, Mrs. Harry Hansen and Mrs. Ivan McKenzie of Lyons; two brothers, John of West Point and William of Uehling; three sisters, Mrs. Chris Hoegemeyer and Mrs. H.G. Suhr of Fremont and Mrs. William Bruegman of Edwardsville, Illinois; ten grandchildren and many other relatives and friends, who will mourn his death.
