Melvin was born in Marion, Ind., on Nov. 27, 1967, to Melvin D. and Ruth A. (Rose) Berry.
Melvin was a 1986 graduate of Marion High School. He was formally employed as a professional welder. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his daughters, watching football, playing paintball, and learning about history. He participated as a counselor when his daughters attended "Camp Invention." He was a devoted and loving father to his daughters.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth A. Berry, Marion; two daughters, Allison A. and Shelby R. Berry, at home; two siblings, David (Ann) Berry, Walnut, Ill., Lynette R. Harris, Gas City; niece, Sara L. Harris; two nephews, Jakob A. Harris and Matthew D. Berry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin D. Berry.
Services were held Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion.
