Paul B. Groves, 84, of 542 Highland Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1918, in Jefferson County, the son of William and Lula Morgan Groves. He was a salesman for Barber Grocery Co. for 30 years, and for Ace Hardware for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Goldsberry Groves; three daughters, Carol Hoffman of Madison, Cathy Collins of Bloomington, and Diane Walters of Vevay; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gayle Groves; one daughter, Wanda Mobley; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Vail-Holt Funeral Home Madison Chapel, with burial in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. until time of the service Friday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church. Contribution cards will be available at the funeral home.
