Mr. Funk was born April 11, 1928 in Grayson County, Virginia to Carl & Linnie Martin Funk
Mr. Funk was retired from Radford Arsenal and attended Second Chance Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mickey Lane Funk and two
sisters, Grace Davis and Edna Poole.
Survivors include: Wilma Funk of the home; a
son, Roger Funk of Dublin, VA; a daughter, Velda Ellis of Bluefield, WV; two stepdaughters, Suzanne Childress and husband Larry of Roaring River, Tammy Meadows and husband Danny of State Road; four sisters, Bettye Osborne of Palm
Beach, Fla., Melba Taylor of Love, MD, Lanthel Taylor and Norma Carrico both of Galax, VA; five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kenny Wood and Rev. Terry Coe. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
