"Joseph Arthur Roland, 71, of 2325 Second Street, died Sunday afternoon at his residence after a long illness.
Mr. Roland was born in Crawford County, the son of the late Frank Roland and Mary Moncrief Roland. He came to Macon in 1906 from Crawford County, and was associated with the Central of Georgia Railway Company as car inspector until he retired several years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America.
Funeral services in Memorial Chapel and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Pearl Mae Bloodworth of Macon, two sons, Elmer and Harvey Roland, both of Macon; a brother, Robert F. Roland of Albany; four sisters, Mrs. R.L. Ray of Savannah, Mrs. J.S. Thomas of Limona, Fla., Mrs. J.J. Hollingsworth of Bainbridge, and Mrs. Molliee Smith of Cuthbert, and four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews."
