A collection of Important Paragraphs for Your Cosideration.
Mrs. Richard Worrel, one of the oldest residents of East Atchison, died at midnight after a long and severe illness. Mrs Worrel died at her home near East Atchison, where her husband has been farming for several years. In the death of Mrs. Worrel, the boys lose a good friend; those who were boys in East Atchison twenty years ago will remember her kindness and interest in their welfare. In those days the custom was to use the rod, but Mrs. Worrel not only not use it, but saved many a neighbor boy from it. A man and his wife named Thorpe, both of whom were blind, and who traveled over the country in a wagon giving concerts, appeared in East Atchison frequently to give a show in the school house. It was the only entertainment East Atchison ever got. Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe were some distant relation to Mrs. Worrel, and all the boys in town got in free. No boy was ever hungry around Mrs. Worrel; he could ‘please' as often as he wanted to. Some of the flowers sent over today were given by boys of twenty years ago, who are now married, and have childred of their own. Mrs. Worrel will live in the memory and appreciation of others, beside her family. She left a husband and the following children; Jim and Fred Worrel, of East Atchison; Mrs. Lee Francis of Atchison; Mrs. Lawrence Kibbee of Cummings, and Mrs. Will Moppins of Sugar Lake. Will and Squire Thorp of Kansas City, formerly of East Atchison, are her brothers. Mrs. Worrel was 59 years of age. The funeral will occur from the house at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Burial in the Hudspeth grave yard.
