The people of this community were surprised Wednesday to learn that Mr Samuel Louis Dennison had departed this life at his home on Ashfield street May 17, 1899 of catarrh of the stomach, aged 67 years, three months and seven days. Mr Dennison was born at Flintstone, Allegany county, was a carpenter by trade and had resided here since 1883. A widow and six children survive. His children are John D. Dennison of Allegany country, Mrs Margaret Neat of Barton, Mrs Hattie Shoemaker of Davis, Samuel D, Miss Fanny A. and Joseph H. Dennison of Piedmont. Mr Dennison was a veteran of the war of the rebellion having served three years in Company C, Second Maryland Regiment. The deceased was a faithful member of the M. E. church from which his funeral took place this morning, Rev. T. M. West officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
