Charla Y. White, 62, of Spainhour Rd. in Morganton went home to be with her heavenly father, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Grace Hospital.
She was born May 9, 1947 in Mitchell County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Young and Viginia Kennedy Young.
Charla was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church, and also several women's clubs. She worked for many years at Broughton Hospital, and volunteered at Burke United Christian Ministries. Charla loved to bake, read books, and work in her flower garden.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rufus Clayton White of the home; a brother, Richard Young of Nebo; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; a great-aunt, Anna Leigh Gordon of Washington State; and her canine companion, Jack.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Denton officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
