Elizabeth "Bessie" Dandridge Cumpton was the youngest child of William Alexander and Mary Jane Hamner Dandridge she was the last of the children to be born at "Locust Grove" Henry County, Virginia born Sep. 8, 1865, shortly after the birth of Bessie Lee Dandridge, William Alexander Dandridge died on Oct. 27, 1865. Mary Jane Dandridge her mother then took all the children to Tate County, Mississippi then after the death of Mary Jane in 1879 Bessie Lee then moved with Her brother George Gilmer Dandridge to Paris, Logan County, Arkansas where Bessie meet and married Emmett T. Cumpton on May 26, 1881.
