He was born Sept 7, 1908, in Tarentum to William P. and Josephine Sherman Nease.
While a student at Tarentum High School, Mr. Nease played football, basketball, track and tennis.
He attended Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon University), Pittsburgh, where he was captain of the freshman basketball team and captain of the varsity team during his junior and senior years. He lettered in track for three years. He established records, since broken in the 50-yeard dash (10 seconds, tied with others), 220-yeard dash (22.3 seconds) and 440-years dash (49.45 seconds, a conference record).
He graduated from Carnegie Tech in 1931.
A teacher, he was assistant football coach at Tarentum High School for 28 years. He also coached basketball and tennis.
Mr. Nease retired in 1969, moving to Pompano, Fla.
He was a member of Highview United Presbyterian Church; Tarentum Elks; Pennsylvania State Education Association, and Highlands Education Association.
Besides his wife, Sophia, his survivors include a brother, Burdette, of Tarentum.
