He was born March 22, 1931, in Greenville, Ohio, as the son of Russell "Mac" and Etoile "Tillie" (Brown) McClurg , and had resided in South Bend since December 1963, coming from Napoleon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell "Mac" McClurg in 1972.
On July 2, 1955, in Greenville, he married Pauline L. Royer. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pauline; four daughters, Debbie (Dave) Fick of Mishawaka, Ind., Pam Fuller of Osceola, Ind., Carol Kissel of South Bend and Linda (Rick) Craig of Park City, Utah; a son, David (Sheri) McClurg of Mishawaka; his mother, Etoile "Tillie" McClurg of South Bend; and by 11 grandchildren, Chris Peter, Stephani (Jason) Mazurkiewicz, Alicia Rose Aerni, Sean Fick, Jeremy Fullmer, Nichole McClurg , Jennifer Fullmer, Kara Fick, Jamie Fullmer, Travis McClurg and Corey Kissel.
Mr. McClurg was owner and operator of Wheel & Rim Sales Company in South Bend since 1957. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the National Wheel & Rim Association, South Bend Moose Lodge #58, Elk's Lodge of Napoleon, Ohio, and served in the United States Navy Reserves. He was also an avid Notre Dame football fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, in St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Rev. Derrick Sneyd, pastor, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend.
