Returning from an Apple Orchard when Caught and Fatally Hurt

Jacob Morgan, prominent farmer of Wabash county and his wife were fatally injured at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at the I.C. railroad crossing just south of the depot here. Their car was hit by a southbound through freight train. Mr. and mrs. Morgan were returning from a Parkersburg orchard with apples. Following the crash Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were taken to the hospital in Olney. There they died Saturday night. Death came to Mrs. Morgan about 9 o'clock and Mr. Morgan died about an hour later. Mr. Morgan had crossed the track at the scene of the fatal crash many times before and was thoroughly acquainted with the situation. It was said that this time his car stopped with the front on the track. Mrs. Morgan attempted to get out of the car. She was caught between it and a concrete wall. One leg was almost severed. Mr. Morgan sustained a badly crushed side. The bodies were brought back to their home in Lancaster precinct in the northwest part of the county. Funeral services were to be held there this afternoon at 2 and burial was to be in Lick Prairie Cemetery.
