Ann Yarbrough Stokes - Jun 6, 2004
On Friday June 4th, I learned from Doris Yarbrough Phillips about a trip she, Grandmother "Mollie" H. Yarbrough, and Swanson's only sister Lura, visited Swanson at the Thompson Sanatorium in Kerrville. That puts Lura at Kerrville in 1936 so I'm thinking this signature is probably hers. Pawpaw adored Lura.

Uncle J.W. Yarbrough also had TB and met a woman while in hospital who also was recovering from TB. (Not sure if they were in Thompson's hospital as well). They ended up living outside of Kerrville in a screened-in home so as to have plenty of fresh air and sunshine for recuperation.

J.W. Yarbrough divorced Margaret and later met Lois ? at a TB hospital in Kerrville, TX, while he was a patient also. They were married and settled outside of Kerrville in order to recuperate in the environment there which was supposed to be best for tuberculosis patients. To date, I don't have any other information about Lois.

YARBROUGH John W 06-03B 106B

I looked on the internet and found a description of the columns for the 1930 census and did a more complete transcription.

Below are all the columns that are marked for each person excluding the columns for office only. I also excluded columns for Lois that repeated the same information for John.

Description: This is the backside of the envelope in which Seth Wright Yarbrough's Army discharge paper was. The note from his step-daughter, Marie DeAtley (address blocked) reads:
"This was a fine man. He was father to all us kids. We had 5. (May God bless him). Marie DeAtley (contact information follows). Seth was wounded in World One service he received a pension from Army."

At this time, I don't know the nature of his wound. His brother, John Welch Yarbrough, was gassed with mustard gas while fighting in France.

Description: Seth Wright Yarbrough's discharge paper from the Army. This certificate is in lieu of lost or destroyed papers.

Please see the scans of the front/back of the envelope.

His step-daughter, Marie DeAtley, states that Seth was wounded in WWI service and received a pension from the Army.

(I don't know the nature of his wound. His brother, John Welch Yarbrough, was gassed with mustard gas while fighting in France which later made him vulnerable to tuberculosis. He did recover from the TB was permanently affected. He lived outside Kerrville after his discharge from the TB hospital in Kerrville.)
