RUBY LUNDBERG MITTON

Mt. Sterling, Utah

In the early morning hours of August 14, 2005, God said; Ruby, My dear daughter, you have been gone long enough. It's time for you to come home now. And she went. Right into the loving arms of her high school sweetheart, and husband of over 74 years. And to the excitement of her first born son after 72 years. God smiled and welcomed her home. What a reunion that must have been.

Ruby was born March 3, 1913 in Logan, Utah. A daughter of Helen McNeil and Otto Lundberg. She was the 5th of eight children. She received her education in Logan City Schools, graduating from Logan High School.

On June 3rd, 1931 she married Carl G. Mitton, her first and forever love. They made their home on a small farm in Mt. Sterling, Utah. She often remarked, I must have been out of my mind, or madly in love, to move from a new home in Logan to a little farm house in Mr. Sterling, with no electricity or plumbing. She was definitely madly in love.

The love they shared bless Ruby and Carl with three children: Geraldean, Paul, and a baby son, who, on the day of his birth, returned to his Father in Heaven.

In 1941, the Mitton family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. There Ruby stayed busy with her children and home, while Carl was instrumental in the production of ammunition during World War II.

In 1945, after the war, the Mitton family returned to Mt. Sterling. Life was busy but rewarding. And as the years passed nine grandchildren many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren joined the family tree.

Ruby and Carl loved traveling and spent their winters in sunny Arizona until Carl's death on November 21st, 1982.

Ruby loved the game of basketball. Whenever the Jazz played, you always knew where to find her at her home glued to the TV set. She would cheer when they won and be sad when they lost. She knew each player by name. The Jazz have lost one of their most devoted fans.

A life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ruby served in many positions. She especially enjoyed drama and road shows.

Ruby has always been an example of service and love to her family, neighbors and friends. One of her dearest pleasures was amusing her children, grand children and great grandchildren with rhymes and stories from her childhood. Her witty and pleasing personality has gained many friends who she enjoyed spending time with. She will be greatly missed.

To the staff of Pioneer Care center; Words can not express the love and appreciation we feel for each one of you. For the tender loving care you have given to our mother. For the miles you have walked in her behalf. For the many times you went far and beyond the call of duty. For the smiles and kisses and many words of love you so freely showered upon her. For the tears you shed, and the tender words of encouragement you gave to us, her family in our hardest hours.

God is wise and God is good, and he chose special people to care for the elderly. May he walk beside you as you continue your special work. You are truly angels among us. May God bless you always.

Ruby is survived by her children Geraldean Hill, Paul and Lolah Mitton. One sister Connie and Jess Fuhriman and one brother LeGrand Lundberg. Her grand children Vickie and Allan Sharp, Scott Hill and Rhonda Whithers, Shelley and Tom Duce, Tanya Simpson, Luz Nilson, Dacei and Brad Hoggan, Kami and Michael Leatham, Matthew and Nichole Mitton and Carl Mitton. Twenty seven great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Carl and a baby son, a son in law, and a great great grandson. Her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday August 18, 2005 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M.. Condolences may be sent to the family at Allen Mortuaries.

Ruby will be laid to rest beside her eternal companion in the Wellsville City Cemetery.

Mother we love you and will miss you more than any words can say.

And the Great Spirit said: Walk close to Me, and I will put starlight in your eyes and rainbows around your shoulders. And through all the eternities I will smile upon your countenance.
