*The name Johanna, meaning 'God is gracious', was a popular name in the Netherlands, as elsewhere.
Johanna is still to this day, the most common name given to a baby girl in Zeeland, a northwestern part of Netherlands.
The Groenendyke ancestors came to New Amsterdam (eventually becoming New Jersey state) in the mid 1600s from the Netherlands. Called New Amsterdam, because most inhabitants came from the Netherlands, with the Dutch Reformed Church being most common, whose records list Groenendyke births and marriages in the New Jersey, New York area.
* another findagrave memorial bio, lists the last two sons of Johannah and Isaac, as being the children of Isaac and his next wife, Mary Ann. By looking at all the birth dates, and birth places, marriage dates, and the death date of Johannah, and of Mary Ann's previous husband; all of the 4 children of Isaac and Johannah can be proven.
