Please do not write me and tell me I don't know where my grandmother was born. I have extensive records showing where my grandmother was born. Her obit is wrong.
The Kansas 1895 Census shows her parents in Kansas. The Federal Census of 1900 shows the family in Thomas, Kansas and they were still living in the same location in the Kansas State Census of 1905. The Federal Census of 1910 still shows the family in Kansas. Also, all of these records, along with my grandmothers marriage license, shows she was born in KANSAS!!! I believe her parents, as did she, knew where she was born. The being born in a dugout in the Oklahoma Territory makes a wonderful story, but it simply isn't true. Sadly, sometimes people want to make things more exciting.
