Funeral service for Ritta Aline Bishop Hendricks, 79, of Edgewood, is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. Fred Morrow officiating. Interment will be at Small Cemetery north of Edgewood.

She passed late Thursday evening, August 27, 2009, in a Canton nursing home.

Ritta was born April 2, 1930, in Canton, Texas, the daughter of Lloyd Bishop and Robert Padie Foster Bishop. She was a lifelong resident of Edgewood, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1948. On February 26, 1949, she married James Henry Hendricks in Edgewood. She worked at Sears in Dallas for several years as a clerk and later worked at Sears in Wills Point. Ritta loved flowers and the beauty of birds. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and was a great cook. Ritta also liked working in her garden and raising chickens. She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church near Edgewood.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Henry Hendricks on April 11, 2009; sister, Janet Shinn and her mother-in-law, Sallie Ruth Hendrix.

Ritta is survived by two sons, Jett Hendricks & wife, Sherri, of Terrell and Jeff Hendricks, of Canton; daughter, Jeannine Hendricks, of Edgewood; brother, Melton Bishop & wife, Nell, of Wills Point; two brothers-in-law, Billy Hendrix & wife, LuAnn, of Edgewood and Richard Shinn & wife, Brenda, of Myrtle Springs; five grandchildren, Chris Hendricks & wife, Nicole, of Rowlett, Michael Hendricks, of Canton, Jeremy Hendricks, of Canton, Jeremiah Tawater, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Corey Mullican, of Terrell; four nephews, Kurt Hendrix, Tony Bishop, DeWayne Bishop and Keith Shinn; two nieces, Mimi Dominy and Lisa Bishop and two former daughters-in-law, Lisa Rogers, of Palestine and Karen Hendricks, of Canton.
