Mark Anthony Blake, 46, lost the race against cancer on Thursday, September 24, 2009 in a courageous battle that lasted over fourteen months.
Mark was born on May 18, 1963 in Evansville, IN. He served his country in the United States Army for eleven years. After his Army service, he drove trucks, and later operated his own business, American Pride Home Improvements. He is preceded in death by his father, John Riley Blake, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Sonja Blake of Hinesville; two daughters, Dottie Akers and husband J.P. of Elizabethtown, KY and Tiffany Blake and Fiancé, Cody Waters of Hinesville; one son, Steven Blake and wife Sarah of Valdosta, GA; mother, Beverly Blake of Jasper IN; brothers and sisters, Robert, Terry, Johnny, Sandy, Dewayne, Angie, Tracie and Shannon; sister-in-law, Barbie and husband Kevin Taylor, brother-in-law, Dieter and wife Gabie; three grandchildren, Nathan, Hunter and Macey Jo along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2009 in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. There was also a memorial service at the Selvin Community Center in Selvin, IN on Saturday October 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jerry Armon officiating.
