Belden Wigglesworth, 75, retired author and editor, died in a Fayetteville, Arkansas, hospital February 7, 1977. Born in New York City, June 4, 1901, he attended St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H. and graduated from Harvard University in 1923.

After three years with the Bank of New York and several years abroad he returned to America where he was employed as a freight traffic analyst with the Boston and Maine Railroad.

He married Doris Drake in Paris, France, April 5, 1949 and was editor and publisher of the Ventura County News, and edited publications for Melpar, Inc. He retired to Fayetteville in 1965. He helped organize the Arkansas Valley Investors, and was an early member of the Baker Street Irregulars, devoted to satirical study of the Sherlock Holmes stories. He was a contributor to the national journal of the Baker Street Irregulars.

In addition to his widow of the home, he is survived by a son, Jerome Wigglesworth, assistant attorney general of Rhode Island; three grandchildren and four nieces and a nephew.
