"Mrs. A. M. Elmore Passes On ---- Martha Elizabeth Livingston was born in Missouri on September 1, 1869 where she grew to womanhood and was married to Allen Monroe Elmore on November 1, 1885. To this union were born 11 children. She was converted early in her life and joined the Baptist Church. Her life remained faithful to her confession, always trusting through trouble and suffering, until she departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Byron Hare in Elk City, on April 4, 1938 at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 3 days. With her family she moved from Missouri to Kansas in 1899 to a farm near Cherryvale, where she resided until the fall of 1903 when the bought and moved onto the old home place 7 miles west of Elk City where her husband passed away on August 15, 1916. She continued to live there until September of 1936 when she moved to Elk City. She was preceded in death by her husband and two infant children, a daughter and a son, Maudie and Claudie. Surviving relatives are three sons and six daughters: Mrs. Elsie Fowler, Nowata, Okla., Mrs. Elizabeth Stucker, Independence, Kansas, Harvey Elmore, Galva, Kansas, Loren Elmore, Longton, Kansas, Mrs. Hattie Davidson, Mrs. Ruby Truitt, Mrs. Myrtle Cox, Mrs. Bessie Hare, and George Elmore, of the home address; 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; one brother and several nieces and nephews; also a host of friends. Mrs. Elmore always followed the golden rule in her daily living, and took great pleasure in helping and serving others, who were in need or sorrow. Friends and her family will miss her loving, helpful spirit and encouraging words of comfort. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Carl M. Packard. A large number of relatives, neighbors, and friends gathered to pay tribute to this good woman. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery."
