Merle served in the Army in WWII.
Merle was known as a hard worker. For many years he worked at the Mobil service station in Coldwater. He opened early in the morning and closed it down about 9 at night.
When his wife, Gladys ran Bowman's cafe down town Coldwater, he went to work with her each morning when she opened the cafe. He started the coffee and helped the first few customers until the morning help arrived. Then he went to work at his regular job.
His final employment was working for Comanche County on the trash pickup service.
I found him to be a great-father-in-law.
