Woodruff Willard Bauman, 59, prominent rancher of Geneva, died suddenly at 9:30 am Friday, in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital, following a heart attack earlier in the morning. The son of John H. and Rosetta Hubschmidt Bauman, he was born in Montpelier on March 31, 1905. He attended school in Geneva and Montpelier.
A rancher on Thomas' Fork for most of his life, he was well known for his interest in improving sheep and cattle strains and taking care of the land that he loved. He served for many years as a member of the Bear Lake County Fair Board.
Woodruff and Gwendolyn Hirschi were married December 4, 1931 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Bauman was a Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was proceded in death in 1939 by a son DeWayne, 3.
Besides his widow, survivors are three children, Bruce Bauman at home, Mrs. Lynn (JoAnn) Davis of Salt Lake City, Utah and DeVerl Bauman at home; one grandson; five brothers, John Henry Bauman and Leonard R. Bauman both of Ogden, Utah, Ernest Bauman of St. Charles, Idaho, Georage W. Bauman of Weed Heights, Nevada and Charles J. Bauman now on a mission for the LDS Church at Fort Apache, Arizona; and three sisters, Mrs. Claude (Viola) Densley of Riverton, Utah; Mrs. Seymour (Ann) Rindlisbacher of Smithfield, Utah and Mrs. Nellie Cheney of Mesa, Arizona.
Services were held at 1 pm Monday in the Montpelier LDS Third-Fifth ward chapel with Bishop Daren Tueller of the Geneva ward conducting.
Following the invocation by Lyman Tueller, Max Haddock sang, "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked," obituary, Bishop Tueller; speaker, Eugene Hall; vocal solo, "In The Garden," Lyle Boehme; speaker, Eldon W. Cook; song, "Oh My Father," Geneva Ladies' chorus; benediction, Doyle Sleight. Prelude and postlude music was by Mrs. G. L. Widmer and prayer at the mortuary by Charles Bauman Jr.
Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery, where the grave was dedicated by Doyle Anthony. Pallbearers were Olin Bauman, Charles H. Bauman Jr., Keaton Francis, Jack Rindlisbacher, Doyle Bauman and Gary Cheney. Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
