SOUTH BEND - Betty J. Wald, 87, of Mishawaka, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 2:42 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009, in Memorial Hospital. Betty was born on January 28, 1922, in South Bend, to William J. and Ella (Priebe) Wolf. On May 21, 1927, in South Bend, Betty married Clem S. Wald, who passed away on June 4, 1987.

Betty is survived by a son, Neil W. (Lisa) Wald of Renton, Washington; three grandsons, Kevin, Keith and Tyler Wald of Renton, WA; and a sister, Ruth (Jim) Briscoe of South Bend. Betty worked as a secretary at Bendix Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Progress Club, and St. Joe Valley Bridge Association.
