David Ray Golding, Jr., 55, of Blackshear died Saturday (Oct. 3, 2009) at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born in Portsmouth, VA and lived most of his life in Blackshear. He was preceded in death by his father, David Ray Golding, Sr. and one brother, Martin Golding. Mr. Golding was a graduate of Blackshear High School Class of 1972. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he served for three years.
Mr. Golding was a Diesel Mechanic where he worked for many companies in Southeast Georgia and was known as the best Diesel Mechanic in the area. He worked for D & M International for the last 10 years. Mr. Golding was a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and enjoyed collecting and shooting guns.
Survivors include three daughters, Kelli Henderson, Jackson, GA, Donna Howard and her husband Josh, Waycross, Dawn Golding, Blackshear; his mother, Maggie Bath Golding, Blitchton, GA; three brothers, Joe Golding and his wife Bobbie, Blackshear, Mickey Golding, China, Herman Golding, Blitchton, GA; one sister, Hazel Smith, Blitchton, GA; 7 grandchildren, Casey, Kirstyne and Kindell Henderson, Michelle and Josh Howard, Breanna Cooper and Haley Rowland; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening at 7 PM at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.
