Martha T. (Anderson) Peacock
Mrs. Martha Peacock passed away early last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. E. Stephens, 1102 Chase Ave. Mrs. Peacock, who would have been 80 years old next January, made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rice Williams, and more than three months ago she went to visit for a time with Mrs. Stephens. It was while on this visit that she was stricken with paralysis and she was ill for 92 days. During her long illness, she was given the best of medical attention and was tenderly and devotedly cared for by her two daughters and her son, Morgan Peacock, who granted her slightest wish and anticipated her every need.
Mrs. Peacock was born in Mississippi and came to Johnson County many years ago. She was married to John E. Peacock and they lived near Cleburne for a number of years. Mr. Peacock passed away about 17 years ago.
She was a devout member of the Central Church of Christ and was a gentle, loveable woman, ever kind and thoughtful to others. Her long and useful life was filled with worthy deeds and her influence for good was felt in many a life.
Mrs. Peacock is survived by two daughters, Mrs. S. E. Stephens, and Mrs. Rice Williams and three sons, Morgan Peacock of Cleburne, William Peacock of Plainview, and Braxton Peacock of Peacock. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Julia Highnote of Haskell, and Mrs. Susan Newman of Santo and a large number of grandchildren.
The sons and daughters have been notified and funeral arrangements will be delayed until their arrival. It is expected the funeral will be held on Saturday.
