Funeral services for retired State Senator Bryan Anthony Poston Sr., age 85, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October, 5, 2009 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne Chance, assisted by Rev. Bill Hines. Internment will follow in Prewitt's Chapel Cemetery with a Masonic Graveside in Hornbeck, LA. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

Sen. Poston was born on March 11, 1924 in Benson, Louisiana to Charles and Marjorie Poston. He passed away on October 3, 2009 in Many, LA after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease where he was a resident of Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center.

Sen. Poston was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. Poston Sr. and Marjorie A. Poston. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Judith M. Poston; two brothers, Charles M. Poston Jr. and Morris O. Poston; four children and their spouses, Bryan A. Poston Jr. and wife Jonell, Larry Poston and wife Una, David Poston and wife Sandra, and Marjorie Sullivan and husband Sidney; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Sen. Poston was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, public servant, businessman, veteran and friend who will always be remembered for his devotion to family, church and public. He and Judy were married on June 5, 1943 and have a wonderful family left to cherish his memory. He attended LSU before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Forces and served his country during World War II as an aerial engineer and gunner on a B-17 bomber.

Sen. Poston was elected to the Louisiana Senate in 1964 and served faithfully and selflessly for 28 years before retiring in 1991. During his tenure, he served as chair of the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee for 16 years and as a member of the Senate Retirement Committee for 8 years. He also was a life long resident and businessman in Hornbeck and was a member of First Baptist Church since April 15, 1957, serving as Deacon, Sunday School Director and teacher among others. Sen. Poston was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of Toro Masonic Lodge of Hornbeck for over 50 years, and a member of Eastern Star Mount Carmel Chapter 3 at Florien, LA.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Al Poston, Brad Poston, and Steve Poston; step-grandson Sidney W. Sullivan; great-grandson, Mark Davis; Jack Sanders, Richard Bruce, and Joel Thomas Jr.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff of Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Jack Corley for the outstanding and compassionate care they provided during his illness.

The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Hornbeck or to a charity of choice.
